Tropical system may bring heavy rain around Austin this weekend

Tropical Storm Harvey dissipated as it moved over the Yucatan Peninsula, but it could redevelop and impact Texas by the weekend.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is expecting Harvey to redevelop once it moves over the Bay of Campeche late Tuesday and early Wednesday. As of late Tuesday morning, the NHC has a 90 percent chance a tropical storm will form in the next 48 hours, and a 100 percent chance a storm will form in the next five days.

As of Tuesday morning, most of the forecast models indicate Harvey will reform into a tropical storm in the Bay of Campeche and western Gulf of Mexico, will take on a northerly track and make landfall somewhere between Corpus Christi and Galveston in the coming days.
